Volunteer Opportunities!

We have a couple of volunteer opportunities on the horizon. Please let Natalie Whitlock know if you might be able to volunteer a little of your time to help at either of these events.

September 10 -
Eastman Road Race Expo
Hours are from noon - 8 pm but, you can volunteer any amount of time. We will have a “booth” at the expo with Komen material & race information along with giveaways.

September 10 -
Volunteer High School / Cherokee High School Football Game
We will have a Race for the Cure booth outside the stadium pre-game. We will be promoting the race with giveaways and giving out race registration forms 5:30 pm until game time at Volunteer High School in Church Hill. We see this as a great opportunity to reach out to people in Hawkins county as this is a huge rival game in the county.

If you can spare a little time to help please let
Natalie Whitlock know.

Save Lids to Save Lives

GREAT NEWS!
ETSU's Kappa Epsilon is going to run the Yoplait Save Lids to Save Lives promotion again for 2010. This promotion raises $$$ for the Komen Tri-Cities Affiliate, so start saving those Yoplait Lids! We will let you know where you can drop off your lids. You can always bring them to the Race for the Cure on October 24th and give them to our volunteers working at the Yoplait booth!

Did You Know?

  • Approximately 207,090 new cases of invasive breast cancer will occur among women in the United States in the year 2010.

  • 1,970 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer in 2010.

  • 39, 840 women will die from breast cancer in 2010.

  • 390 men will die from breast cancer in 2010.

Appalling statistics? We know. At the Tri-Cities Affiliate of Susan G. Komen we are convinced that early detection is the most important factor in saving lives. We are dedicated to educating all of our constituents in our 22 county service area on the importance of good breast health and early detection in saving lives and ending breast cancer as a life threatening disease. That being said, communication in our constituency area is imperative to reaching our goals. Thus, we would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to our blog-- the newest SGK Tri-Cities endeavor.
